Dr Steven Lee, a young doctor remembered for his love of music, aviation, medicine and adventure, is being honoured by his family and friends more than four years after his death in a road collision in Herefordshire.
Lee, 26, died at the scene on August 11, 2022, after the motorbike he was riding collided with a tractor and trailer on the A40 near Ganarew, Ross-on-Wye. The case returned to Worcester Crown Court on September 22, 2026, when tractor driver Philip Baker, 61, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving. He was also disqualified from driving for nine years.
A Life Driven by Curiosity
Steven developed a passion for music from an early age and became an accomplished piano player before qualifying as a piano teacher.
His adventurous personality also drew him toward aviation. He joined the Air Training Corps at 13, later gaining the Queen’s Commission and becoming a pilot officer while continuing to volunteer with the organisation.

Medicine, Aviation and Music
Steven studied biology before pursuing medicine. He later completed a master’s degree in Human Immunology at Liverpool University before enrolling at Swansea to study medicine.
His family described him as a loving son, adored brother, entertaining uncle, wonderful partner and great friend. West Mercia Police also reported that Steven’s family had established the Dr Steven Lee Foundation, aimed at helping reduce motorcycle fatalities through advanced training for new riders.
Police said the tractor and trailer involved in the collision had serious defects, including no amber warning beacon, defective trailer brakes and other maintenance problems. Investigators identified the absence of the beacon as a main causal factor.
Steven’s family continues to remember a man who embraced learning, service and adventure while making a lasting impression on everyone around him.
